• The KIOST oversees the conservation of useful marine species for gene analysis and ecological survey on marine environments (e.g. wetlands such as tidal flats).

• The NIFS undertakes surveys, testing and research on fisheries, marine disease control, management of marine plant varieties and extension and dissemination of fisheries technology. The institute also conducts R&D on aquaculture and biotechnology associated with useful marine species, as well as hygiene, safety and utilization of marine products.

• FIRA is responsible for the protection and promotion of marine resources, fisheries management and research, development and dissemination of relevant technologies.
