Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment Holds the 3rd Forum on Nature-related Financial Disclosure

The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, in collaboration with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held the 3rd forum on Nature-related Financial Disclosure on the afternoon of September 30 at the GLAD Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul.

Nature-related financial disclosure is a framework through which companies assess nature-related risks and opportunities arising from their business activities and publicly report their responses strategies. Following global initiatives on climate-related disclosures, the international community is now focusing on biodiversity and ecosystem reporting. In line with this trend, the Korean government and businesses are taking proactive steps to prepare for these new disclosure initiative.

Launched last year, the Nature-related Disclosure Forum aims to share international trends and exemplary reporting practices, while exploring response strategies for Korean industries. Approximately 200 key stakeholders, including representatives from businesses, academia, and civil society, attended this 3rd forum.

International companies, including Taiwan’s CTCI Group, Japan’s Kirin Holdings, Singapore’s City Development Limited, and Hong Kong’s ADM Capital, presented their experiences in disclosure and nature-related response strategies. Representing Korean businesses, POSCO Group shared insights from its disclosure reporting experience and outlined future plans.

Tony Goldner, CEO of the Secretariat of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), and other experts joined online to provide updates on the latest international developments, introduce scenario analysis techniques for disclosure preparation, and discuss plans for building nature data platforms.
